I'm Peter Duerst (he/him), a software engineer and theater maker in the Boston area.
I'm moving to Vienna, Austria in June 2026!

I'm a Software Test Engineer II at Medtronic, working on their Surgical Robotics team.
I'm the technical director for Giving@First 2026, a 24-hour play festival for charity. The single performance will be on Saturday, January 24 at 8pm at First Church Somerville.
I'm directing The Aria of Julie d'Aubigny* by Monica Cross for Theatre@First! Auditions will be in March 2026, with performances in June. If you're interested in working on or seeing my last production in Boston, you can fill out this short interest form!
After Aria wraps up, I'm moving to Vienna, Austria!
* The full title is The Aria of Julie d'Aubigny, the cross-dressing, sword-fighting, opera singer, wherein she seduces men and women alike, wins numerous duels, must be twice pardoned by the King, and eventually finds true love.
I graduated from MIT in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Theater Arts. After graduation, I spent 5 years working in consumer robotics: first at iRobot, then at 10Beauty. Since April 2024, I've been working as a Software Test Engineer II at Medtronic, working on their Surgical Robotics team.
I love to build things, from robots to theater sets. I also enjoy playing Dungeons & Dragons, acting in community theater, and trying new vegetarian/vegan recipes.
